San Diego State Parks

San Diego State Parks App

The objective of this body of work was to gain hands-on experience with the UI/UX design process by conceptualizing and developing a functional mobile application. The assignment required creating 8-10 layout pages in Adobe Illustrator, followed by using Figma to develop an interactive prototype with clickable buttons.

For this project, I designed an app focused on guiding users to state parks in San Diego, offering a map and detailed information on select locations. After narrowing down the selection to 5-7 parks, I delved deeper into two or three specific sites for further exploration. As part of the process, I developed user personas to ensure the app’s functionality would meet the needs of potential users.

App Icons

When deciding on icons I wanted to create simple fun designs that really popped and stood out on the page. Using a bright color palette and curved lines helped achieve the look I was going for. This included things like location points, freeways, plants, and more. This added an element to the map page that made it feel more cohesive.
